Mrs. Chigozie Akamnonu, distraught over the sudden disappearance of her husband, Reverend Pastor Eric Akamnonu, has formally petitioned the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, to help locate him.
Pastor Akamnonu, a native of Ndiakunwata-Uno, Arondizuogu, in Ideato North Local Council of Imo State, was last seen on Monday, February 24, after visiting his hometown to inspect a piece of land for his brother, Mazi Cyprian Chukwuemeka Akamnonu, who resides in the United States.
Mrs. Akamnonu explained that her husband had traveled to Arondizuogu on Sunday, February 23, at the request of his brother to meet a land seller, Mazi Ebere Onyenucheya. After spending the night at their country home, Pastor Akamnonu inspected the land the next morning. His phone was still reachable the following morning when he briefly spoke with one of his wife’s business clients. However, after that, his phone became unreachable, leading to increasing fears about his safety.
Alarmed by the disappearance, Mrs. Akamnonu sought clarification from her husband’s relatives, only to be told conflicting stories about when he supposedly left the village for Aba. The inconsistencies have raised suspicions of foul play.
In her emotional appeal, Mrs. Akamnonu expressed that the uncertainty surrounding her husband’s disappearance had left her distraught. She described her husband as a man of high moral standing with no known enemies and pleaded with security agencies to intensify efforts to find him.
A formal petition was lodged with the Imo State Commissioner of Police through the family’s legal representative, A.O. Amagwula & Co. Additionally, a similar petition was filed with the DSS in Owerri by the family lawyer, Arinzechukwu Nwaudo, who expressed concerns about the possibility of conspiracy or kidnapping surrounding Pastor Akamnonu’s sudden disappearance.
The Imo State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed the case and reassured the public that the police were investigating the incident. He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in locating the missing pastor.
