A teenage boy has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Jos Upper Area Court for stealing herbs worth N1,000.
Naija247news gathered that the convict, whose name was not disclosed, was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft. The prosecution told the court that the teenager stole the herbs from a herbalist’s shop on November 28, 2024.
According to Naija247news, the judge, Mr. Yahaya Mohammed, convicted the teenager after he pleaded guilty to the charge. He, however, gave him an option of a fine of N5,000.
The judge warned the teenager to desist from crime and be law-abiding. He also urged parents and guardians to monitor their children’s activities to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding the law, even for minor offenses. It underscores the need for parents and guardians to instill moral values in their children and guide them towards a positive path.
