Arsenal legend Tony Adams has likened in-form Bukayo Saka to Lionel Messi following his impressive performances in the 2022-23 Premier League season.
Saka has played an important role for the Gunners this season as they aim to win their first title in 19 years.
Adam, who played for Arsenal between from 1983-2002 believes Saka is England’s best player.
“I think the player of the season is Saka. The kid is just phenomenal,” Adams said on the Seaman Says Podcast.
“I had a bit of a go at Gareth [Southgate] during the World Cup for taking him off.”
He added: “He’s every bit as good as Messi. Messi is obviously at the end of his career. Even when you question him and he missed his penalty at the Euros and he’s come back.
“Every time I see him, he makes goals and scores goals. He’s a phenomenal footballer, the best player for England and the best player for Arsenal.”
Saka has scored seven goals and recorded six assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season.
He will be aiming to add to his goals tally when Arsenal visits Oxford United in the FA Cup on Monday.
