The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to dedicate 20 days to showcasing the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the education sector. This initiative is set to demonstrate the progress made in improving education within the FCT.

Showcasing Progress in Education

According to Wike, the decision to showcase the achievements in education was made to counter criticism and show Nigerians the level of development achieved under President Tinubu’s leadership. Speaking at the commissioning of new engineering infrastructure in Wuye District, Abuja, Wike said, “We will take 20 days to show Nigerians, to show social media presidents what we have done in the education sector. So we are not going to rush. We are going to shock them with what we have done in the education sector.” The minister emphasized that the administration is not only focused on infrastructure development but also making significant progress in education.

Focus on Education

Wike added that after the 20-day showcase, there will be a brief pause before shifting focus fully to education-related initiatives. “I have told the Chief of Staff that we are going to end our flag-off and commissioning, at least for now. Twenty days is not two days, so we will take a rest and come back to concentrate on education,” Wike stated.

The planned 20-day showcase of the FCT’s educational achievements is a welcome development, and Nigerians eagerly await the opportunity to see the progress made in the sector. The initiative is a testament to the administration’s commitment to improving education in the FCT, and it will be interesting to see the impact it will have on the territory’s educational landscape.
