The Nigerian military has intensified its crackdown on terrorism and oil theft, with troops arresting 86 suspects, including terrorists, collaborators, and oil thieves, while rescuing 26 kidnapped victims nationwide. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) disclosed this in a statement, detailing the successful operations conducted across various regions.
Operations Across the Country
The military’s operations were carried out in several states, resulting in the deaths of scores of terrorists. In the North West, troops killed several terrorists and arrested 11 suspects, while rescuing 14 kidnapped victims in Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Kaduna states. In the South East, 12 IPOB/ESN terrorists were arrested, and three kidnapped victims were rescued in Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi states. The North Central region also witnessed significant operations, with 24 suspects arrested, and three kidnapped victims rescued in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi states.
Oil Theft Foiled
In the South South, troops foiled oil theft worth N13.4 million, seized stolen crude oil products, and dismantled illegal refining sites in Delta State. The military’s efforts to combat oil theft and other economic sabotage are yielding results, with significant seizures and arrests made in recent operations.
