Naija247news reports that the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations of forgery and signature cloning made by the party’s national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
Naija247news gathered that Anyanwu raised concerns in three separate letters dated October 15, 2025, claiming that a letter purportedly sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about the PDP’s planned national convention bore his forged signature and was dispatched without his knowledge or approval.
According to Naija247news, Anyanwu described the situation as shocking, stating, “Regrettably, the quoted letter was never signed, authorised or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter.” He further urged the INEC chairman, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
However, Naija247news understands that PDP BoT chairman Adolphus Wabara, in a statement on Thursday, dismissed the allegations as “baseless, misleading, and reprehensible.” He emphasized that the INEC notification letter was jointly signed by PDP chairman Umar Damagum and Anyanwu during the 102nd meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) on August 25, with the signing witnessed by party organs and stakeholders.
Naija247news reports that Wabara stated Anyanwu had co-signed official communications of the sub-committee on contact and mobilisation of the national convention, including letters of appointment issued to its members. He also noted that Anyanwu personally signed and transmitted a letter seeking financial approval for the sub-committee’s inaugural meeting, and these correspondences remain in the custody of the party and convention committees.
According to Naija247news, Wabara urged party members and supporters to disregard Anyanwu’s claims, describing them as inconsistent with documented records and a deliberate attempt to misinform security agencies and the public. He reassured that the PDP remains cohesive, committed to democratic values, transparency, and internal harmony.
Naija247news gathered that Wabara confirmed the PDP’s elective national convention, scheduled for November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State, would be credible and unifying, emphasizing that party members should remain steadfast in their loyalty and disregard unfounded allegations.
