ILORIN, Dec. 27, 2025 (Naija247news) – Pastor Oluwole Israel of The Disciples Church, Ilorin, has called on Nigerian leaders to shun corruption and adopt disciplined, ethical conduct as a cornerstone of governance and public trust.

Speaking on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Israel stressed that discipline is not only a civic responsibility but a fundamental requirement for leaders to effectively manage communities and prioritise citizens’ welfare.

He warned that many leaders today are excessively corrupt and lack the discipline needed to serve the public, noting that moral failure and financial misconduct undermine national development and erode public confidence.

“Leaders should prioritise the welfare of the masses, keeping citizens’ interests at heart consistently, rather than exploiting their positions for personal gain or denying people access to the rights and resources they deserve,” Israel said.

He urged leaders to practice financial and moral discipline, resist corruption, and recognise that leadership is a privilege granted by chance, not perfection, requiring humility and a commitment to positively impact lives.

Israel also called on leaders to lead by example, avoid arrogance, maintain accountability, and allow the fear of God to guide decision-making, reminding that all actions are ultimately subject to divine judgment.
