A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) interest groups in Osun State has announced the mobilisation of over 25,000 youths across the 30 Local Government Areas in support of zoning the party’s 2026 governorship ticket to Osun West Senatorial District.

The coalition, comprising The Progressives Frontliners (TPF) and the Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG), disclosed the development after a strategic meeting held in Osogbo on Wednesday.

‘Our 25,000 Youths Are Ready’ — Group Leader Declares

Speaking at a press briefing, coalition leader Mr. Ajibade Abiodun stated that the youth mobilisation drive was aimed at ensuring electoral victory for the APC in 2026, with a clear emphasis on Osun West producing the party’s next governorship candidate.

“As a coalition, we have mobilised more than 25,000 youths who are committed to working for the party’s success in the next governorship election,” Abiodun said.

“The majority of these youths have aligned with our agenda, which is based on the belief that Osun West deserves the governorship ticket in 2026.”

Osun West Has Paid Its Dues — Rukayat Ademola

Also addressing journalists, another coalition leader, Mrs. Rukayat Ademola, made a passionate appeal to key APC leaders at both state and national levels to consider the longstanding contributions of Osun West in party-building efforts.

“Osun West has consistently supported the APC at all levels. We have paid our dues. Now is the time for the district to be honoured with the governorship ticket,” she said.

Ademola directed the appeal to notable APC leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor Chief Bisi Akande, Minister for Marine and Blue Economy Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

“These leaders are more than political figures; they are father figures to APC members in Osun State. We call on them to show compassionate leadership and reward Osun West’s loyalty to the party,” she added.

Zoning as a Tool for Unity and Progress

The coalition argued that zoning the governorship ticket to Osun West would not only foster equity within the party but also serve as a symbol of inclusiveness and unity among all districts in the state.

“This gesture would send a clear signal to supporters across the state that every senatorial district matters in our journey toward shared progress,” Ademola concluded.

The demand from the Osun APC coalition adds to the growing discourse on power rotation and internal party equity, as the countdown to the 2026 governorship election in the state gains momentum.
