Abuja (Naija247news) — Nigeria and Denmark have entered a new phase of strategic collaboration following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening cooperation across digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, connectivity, and innovation ecosystems.
The agreement, signed between the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the Government of Denmark, marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive to attract global partnerships that can accelerate its digital transformation agenda.
Speaking at the signing, Lina Gandløse Hansen, Danish State Secretary for Trade, reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to the partnership, describing it as a natural extension of both nations’ shared vision for inclusive digital growth.
“When Nigeria calls for collaboration, Denmark responds,” Hansen declared, emphasizing that the partnership reflects Denmark’s belief in Nigeria’s potential to become a regional technology powerhouse.
Under the MoU, both countries will scale broadband infrastructure, pilot smart digital governance solutions, and create pathways for Nigerian tech talent to contribute to Danish companies — both remotely and through structured in-person placements.
The partnership will also explore new frontiers in AI adoption, cybersecurity, green tech innovation, and data governance, ensuring that Nigeria’s digital expansion aligns with European best practices while maintaining local relevance.
According to officials from the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the agreement underscores Nigeria’s resolve to localise global innovation models, making the country a key player in the evolving digital economy of Africa.
In addition to the MoU, Denmark has pledged €12 million in support — channelled through the European Union (EU) — to strengthen Nigeria’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. The initiative is designed to upskill Nigerian youth for global technology roles and drive digital inclusion across the nation.
This renewed collaboration signals a strong vote of confidence in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem and its growing reputation as a hub for digital partnerships, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
