The chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption, Professor Itse Sagay, has appealed to Nigerians to wait for the Ministry of Information to release the names of alleged treasury looters within the next few days.
Sagay who said President Muhammadu Buhari was right not to release the names on Democracy Day, assured Nigerians that the Information ministry would soon release them.

Many Nigerians had expected the President to publicize, on Democracy Day, the names of people alleged to have stolen public funds, but were disappointed when he failed to do so.
Sagay argued, in a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, that the release of such names should not be the immediate major concern of Nigerians when the focus should be on what the government was doing to impact on the lives of Nigerians.
On the legal implications of releasing the names when the alleged looters had not been convicted by a competent court of law, the senior advocate opined that the names of those who had voluntarily returned allegedly stolen monies could still be released without any legal concern, saying such cases were more like an acceptance of guilt.
“We have those who have admitted they stole some monies and had returned them. For those people, we don’t need any court judgment to release their names as, already, they have admitted guilt,” he explained.
