Ibadan, Dec. 12, 2025 (NAN) Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has attributed the achievements of his administration to the sustained cooperation, dedication and support of the state’s public and civil servants.

Makinde stated this on Friday in Ibadan during the 2025 Public Service Week and Merit Award Ceremony organised to celebrate outstanding workers across the state.

According to the governor, the progress recorded in infrastructure renewal and improvements across critical sectors of the state’s economy would not have been possible without the commitment and professionalism of the workforce.

“Our achievements as a government are not accidental. They are the result of cooperation, dedication and support from our public and civil servants, who have continued to put the interest of Oyo State above personal considerations,” Makinde said.

He noted that his administration had been privileged to work with public officers who remained focused on development, accountability and service to the people.

Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising workers’ welfare, stressing that improved well-being of workers remained central to his governance philosophy.

“I want to assure you that this government will continue to prioritise your welfare. A motivated workforce is critical to delivering sustainable development and quality service to the people,” he said.

The governor congratulated recipients of the 2025 Merit Awards, describing them as exemplary public servants whose dedication and integrity should inspire others in the service.

He urged the awardees to sustain their pursuit of excellence and encouraged all workers to invest in the education and training of their children as a way of securing a stronger future.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Makinde was also honoured at the event by the Civil and Public Service for maintaining worker-friendly policies since assuming office in 2019.

Earlier, the Head of Service of Oyo State, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, commended the governor for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and professional development of public servants.

Oni praised Makinde for strengthening the Public Service Week initiative and transforming it into a platform for capacity building, service pride and excellence.

She described the governor as a labour-friendly leader who recognises the public service as the engine of development and a key driver of good governance in Oyo State.
