The Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has adjourned the alleged defamation case brought by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, and his son, Folarin (Falz), against social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman (VDM), to April 15, 2025.
Justice Matthias Dawodu made the decision after receiving a letter from Verydarkman’s legal team, requesting the adjournment due to the unavailability of lead defense counsel, Marvin Omorogbe, because of a “domestic emergency.” Verydarkman was absent from court, though the Falanas were represented by Femi Falana, while counsel Omotayo Olatunbosun expressed his concerns, calling the delay a “time-wasting tactic.”
After addressing the preliminary objection raised by Verydarkman’s defense, Justice Dawodu set the next hearing for April 15, 2025. Additionally, the Falanas have filed a substantive suit on the matter, assigned to Justice Fimisola Azeez.
