Angolan Airlines (TAAG) and German flag carrier Lufthansa on Monday renewed their existing cooperation agreement, pledging to increase the frequency of flights between Luanda and Frankfurt.Speaking during the signing ceremony in Luanda, Lufthansa executive board member Kark Ulrich Garnadt said the new agreement would ensure that the two airlines have a code-share arrangement for all flights between the countries.
“This agreement expands our presence in Angola, we want to strengthen our partnership, os that we can offer our customers a growing number of destinations, not only through our hub in Frankfurt, but also using Luanda as a gateway to Angola and other regional destinations,” Garnadt is quoted as saying by the Angolan Press Agency.
There will be an additional flight per week between the two destinations.
He noted that “with the increasing capacity of flights Lufthansa shows a strong commitment to Angola which is one of the most promising markets in Africa.”
TAAG administrator Adriano de Carvalho said the agreement would allow the Angolan airline to extend its destinations, focusing on Central Europe.
Lufthansa began Luanda/Frankfurt flights in April 2008.
