The Imo State Government has sealed a hotel and a private mortuary in Umuhu Autonomous Community, Ngor-Okpala, reportedly used by kidnappers and violent criminals.
The operation, carried out on Saturday, December 6, 2025, uncovered decomposed and mutilated corpses in unhygienic conditions, sparking suspicions of illegal organ-harvesting.

A high-powered team led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, inspected the sites following credible intelligence on the suspect, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, who is currently at large. The delegation included the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu; Chief Pathologist, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu; members of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group; and the Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Mrs. Chika Ibekwe.
According to the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, the hotel and mortuary, owned by Oparaugo, were being used by criminals. Forensic experts documented evidence, and both facilities were sealed on government orders.
“The suspect’s residence was also searched, and crucial exhibits were recovered,” the statement added. “Stanley Morocco Oparaugo has been declared WANTED. Anyone with useful information should contact the nearest police station or call 0803 477 3600.”
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that all accomplices would be identified and brought to justice. Maximum security has also been deployed along the Owerri–Aba Expressway to ensure travelers’ safety during the holiday season.
