Benin, Dec. 16, 2025 (NAN) – The First Bank of Nigeria has inaugurated its Digital Xperience Centre (DXC) at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), highlighting the bank’s commitment to innovation, digital banking, and community engagement.

Speaking at the launch on Tuesday, FirstBank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, reassured the public that the bank’s digital innovations would not result in job losses. He described the DXC as more than a banking facility, noting that it represents a significant step toward redefining how banking intersects with education, technology, and the wider community.

“The DXCs serve as gateways to a smarter, faster, and more personalised financial journey,” Alebiosu said.

He explained that the centres are equipped with cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art self-service terminals, designed to simplify transactions while ensuring security and efficiency. The partnership with UNIBEN has created a hub where students, faculty, and community members can explore FirstBank’s digital offerings.

“This digital experience centre is set up to take banking to the next level,” Alebiosu said. “It mirrors everything you would find in a banking hall, from account opening to updating contact details, lodging complaints, cash withdrawals, deposits, and account statements. The aim is to complement our branches, reduce queues, and enhance customer convenience.”

The CEO also emphasised that the facility operates 24/7, including weekends, offering customers flexibility and round-the-clock access. He added that the bank remains committed to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, promoting financial inclusion, digital literacy, and sustainable technology.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, expressed delight over the new facility. “We are excited and grateful to First Bank for this initiative. It will enhance the operations of our staff and faculty, as well as improve the overall university experience. Ours is a large institution, and we are pleased that the bank chose to bring this innovation to our campus,” Omoregie said.

The launch of the Digital Xperience Centre at UNIBEN marks a milestone in bridging banking with education, technology, and community engagement, further reinforcing FirstBank’s position as a leader in digital financial services.
