
Delta State and Nigeria mourn the passing of Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, the former lawmaker who represented Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly. Details surrounding his death have not yet been made public.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State described Nwaoboshi’s death as a “great loss” to Delta State, the Anioma nation, and the nation at large. In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor hailed Nwaoboshi as a proud son of Delta State and a courageous advocate for the Anioma cause, whose contributions to national development will remain indelible.
Senator Nwaoboshi served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, using his position to champion development initiatives across the Niger Delta region. His tenure was marked by a strong voice for Delta State, reflecting his commitment to both regional and national progress.
Governor Oborevwori also highlighted Nwaoboshi’s political legacy, noting his rise through a rich political pedigree, selfless service, and dedication to democratic ideals. Nwaoboshi served as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State and devoted his life to public service, leaving behind a legacy of courage, loyalty, and dedication.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” the governor said.
He extended heartfelt condolences to Nwaoboshi’s immediate family, the Anioma people, members of the All Progressives Congress, and all who were touched by his life. “I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family, friends, and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Oborevwori added.
