Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was on Thursday rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, after reportedly collapsing in his office.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., sparking panic among staff and prompting an immediate emergency response. Eyewitnesses reported that the deputy governor appeared to be in critical condition as he was swiftly transported to the hospital’s emergency unit.
Although the state government has yet to issue an official statement, sources familiar with the situation suggested the collapse may be linked to a possible cardiac emergency. Medical teams at FMC Yenagoa were said to have begun stabilizing him upon arrival.
The news has raised concern among political observers and residents, given Ewhrudjakpo’s active role in state governance and ongoing development projects.
