Abuja, Dec. 27, 2025 (Naija247news) – The Northern interest group, Arewa 100 Percent Focus, has urged a review of alleged material discrepancies between the versions of the tax reform bills passed by the National Assembly and the copies subsequently gazetted by the Executive.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the group’s National President, Dr. Abubakar Fakai, highlighted concerns raised by Rep. Abdussamad Dasuki of the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, Sokoto State, during a plenary session on Dec. 17, 2025. Dasuki noted apparent unauthorised alterations in the gazetted documents that diverged from the legislative intent approved by both chambers of the National Assembly.

“These changes, if confirmed, represent a grave constitutional breach, undermining the separation of powers and the sanctity of laws enacted through due legislative process,” Fakai said.

The Federal Government, through the Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has dismissed the claims, asserting that only one official version of the laws exists and no alterations were made post-assent by President Bola Tinubu.

Fakai described Arewa 100 Percent Focus as a group committed to good governance and the protection of northern Nigeria’s interests, stressing that the alleged tampering raises questions about equity, resource distribution, and the broader implications of the tax reforms for the Arewa region.

“The apparent discrepancies suggest a troubling pattern of insincerity by the Executive, potentially imposing disproportionate burdens on ordinary Nigerians and eroding public trust,” Fakai said. “Such actions not only violate constitutional norms but also threaten national unity and economic stability.”
