In a regulatory disclosure on the Nigerian Exchange, company secretary Uaboi G. Agbebaku confirmed that the acquisition was finalized following a sale and purchase agreement with minority shareholders Ekulo International Limited and Next International Nigeria Limited, each previously holding a 10% stake.
As part of the integration, DWSN has relocated its production from rented premises to NB’s facilities, positioning itself to strengthen its market share in wines, spirits, and ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages.
“The full acquisition will help reduce complexities and accelerate decision-making in Nigerian Breweries’ ambition to expand beyond beer,” the company stated.
This move follows Nigerian Breweries’ acquisition in June 2024 of an 80% stake in DWSN and 100% of Heineken Beverages’ import business in Nigeria, making DWSN a subsidiary.
With full ownership, Nigerian Breweries now oversees the importation, marketing, and distribution of brands such as 4th Street wine (red, rosé, white, sparkling, and non-alcoholic), Chamdor, Hunters Dry, Savannah Dry, and Gold. The imported portfolio includes Drosty Hof, Nederburg, Amarula Cream Liqueur, Bain’s Whisky, and Scottish Leader Whisky.
This strategic expansion reinforces Nigerian Breweries’ diversification efforts beyond beer, leveraging its extensive distribution network to enhance the premium beverage market in Nigeria.
