Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic operations for 90 days starting January 29, 2025, after a series of incidents on its flights, a move welcomed by the regulatory authority.
During the suspension period, the NCAA conducted a rigorous safety and economic assessment of the airline. According to Achimugu, the safety audit, carried out from February 26 to 28, 2025, involved a thorough review of Max Air’s organizational structure, operational procedures, personnel, and aircraft to ensure compliance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.
“Given the results of the audit, which confirm Max Air’s capacity to sustain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights, effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement read.
The NCAA further assured that it would maintain strict oversight of Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure continuous compliance with safety and operational standards.
