“Unreleased Tupac Songs Surface Days Before Keefe D’s Murder Trial”
Just days before Duane “Keefe D” Davis faces trial for the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, never-before-heard recordings and handwritten lyrics from the late rapper have emerged.
The three unreleased songs—Leave Us Kidz Alone, Streetz Got Ya Babies, and Bedtime Storiez—were part of a shelved early ‘90s project with the group Jesse and the Kidz. The discovery includes a cassette tape listing the tracks, along with handwritten lyrics to a separate song titled Daze, reflecting on Tupac’s childhood and life lessons from his parents.
“Lyrics That Seemed to Foreshadow Tupac’s Fate”
One of the tracks, Streetz Got Ya Babies, contains haunting lyrics that eerily mirror Tupac’s tragic end:
“Mama told me to watch my back and that’s what I’m gonna do,” and,
“Traded in my zip gun, got me a .22.”
Both the recordings and lyrics are now available for private sale through MomentsInTime.com, drawing attention not just for their artistic value but also for their chilling connection to Tupac’s life and death.
“Keefe D Maintains Innocence as Trial Approaches”
The timing of the tape’s emergence coincides with the high-profile trial of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former Compton drug kingpin and alleged Southside Crips leader. Arrested in September 2023, Davis has long been linked to Tupac’s murder but has consistently denied involvement.
In a recent interview from Clark County Detention Center, Davis insisted, “I’m innocent. They don’t have anything—no gun, no car, no Keefe D, nothing.”
Prosecutors, however, argue that Davis orchestrated the hit, using his own memoir, Compton Street Legend, as key evidence. Davis claims he never actually read the book and that co-author Yusuf Jah took creative liberties.
Authorities believe Davis, now 61, was the “shot caller” who ordered the fatal attack on Tupac, who was gunned down on September 7, 1996, while riding in a black BMW near the Las Vegas Strip. The rapper succumbed to his injuries six days later.
Davis, the only surviving suspect from the car that fired the deadly shots, pleaded not guilty in November 2023 and now faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
