FirstBank has strongly denied allegations of fraud in an ongoing court case filed by Dr. Agbai Eke, labeling the claims as “entirely unfounded and false.” In a statement, the bank asserted that its internal investigation uncovered “unprofessional and unethical dealings” between Dr. Eke and a former employee, insisting that unauthorized transactions were conducted without the bank’s knowledge or involvement.

The bank further stated that it has escalated the matter to law enforcement authorities, with suspects already providing statements to investigators. However, due to the ongoing legal proceedings, FirstBank declined to offer additional details, emphasizing its commitment to allowing the court to “dispassionately determine the issues before it.”

The case has drawn significant public interest, fueled by reports from ThisDay Newspaper and Arise Television, alongside a widely circulated video discussing the legal dispute.
