Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the Government of Rivers State (SSG), has cautioned against misinterpreting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s calm and peaceful governance style as a sign of weakness. This comes amidst criticism from political opponents, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who had previously criticized Danagogo’s role in the administration.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The criticism stemmed from Danagogo’s action in signing a letter inviting lawmakers to meet with the Governor, with Wike labeling the letter “useless.” However, during the commissioning of Okrika Grammar School, Dr. Danagogo defended his actions, stating that inviting lawmakers for an informal meeting was within his official duties and did not exceed his responsibilities.
Danagogo, who hails from the Kalabari region and served as SSG during Wike’s second term, emphasized that such duties were similar to those he performed under the previous administration. He clarified that his actions were not motivated by political sentiment but by the necessity to clear up any misunderstandings.
He further commended Governor Fubara for his restraint amid recent provocations, particularly when the state assembly complex was locked, preventing the Governor from presenting the 2025 budget. Danagogo noted that while past governors might have reacted drastically in such a situation, Fubara’s decision to remain composed was in the best interest of maintaining order.
Danagogo reassured the people of Rivers State that the administration remains focused on their welfare and economic stability, and that Fubara’s reluctance to escalate tensions stems from his commitment to avoid policies that could harm the citizens.
