…Urges Peaceful Resolution Amid Impeachment Talks
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Rivers-based activist Jake Epelle on Thursday stated that nobody will succeed in impeaching Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. In an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief show, Epelle expressed his firm belief that Fubara has not committed any impeachable offense and that the people of Rivers state are solidly behind him.
Epelle challenged the recent calls for Fubara’s impeachment, particularly those made by the FCT Minister, saying that while the minister may possess significant influence, he does not have the constitutional authority to carry out such an action. Epelle stressed that impeachment efforts would fail, as they did not meet the constitutional requirements.
“Nobody will impeach Fubara. I say that openly on national television because he hasn’t committed any impeachable offence. Nobody will impeach him; the people are solidly behind him,” Epelle said.
The activist also addressed the ongoing political strife between Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. He urged both leaders to come together for peace, calling for direct negotiations between the two factions. Epelle emphasized that the state was larger than the individuals involved and criticized the ego-driven actions and threats that have characterized the conflict.
“It is very undemocratic and unjust for one person to keep dictating the conditions for peace. Fubara and Wike need to be in the same room and settle this. This state is bigger than Wike and Fubara, and this ego-tripping and threats must stop,” Epelle remarked. “The Rivers people are resilient, and we love this country.”
In his emotional plea, Epelle expressed deep concern for the state, saying, “My heart bleeds, my eyes are full of tears,” urging for an end to the ongoing political turmoil and a focus on the wellbeing of Rivers citizens.
