According to Hundeyin, the suspects—identified as Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28)—booked the victim’s flight from Kano to Lagos on February 28, 2025, under the guise of offering him a job as a chef. Upon arrival, the suspects and five accomplices lodged him in a hotel, overpowered him, and tied his hands and legs. They then contacted his boss in Kano, threatening to kill him if the ransom was not paid.
The boss initially transferred ₦1 million to buy time before alerting the police. Responding to a distress call on March 5, officers from the Ikeja Division’s anti-crime patrol stormed the location, rescuing the victim and arresting two suspects while five others escaped.
Recovered Items Include:
• A grey Toyota Camry (operational vehicle)
• $2,000 cash belonging to the victim
• Three ATM cards
• A green card
• A driver’s license and NIN slip
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Ikeja Division officers for their swift response and assured residents of continued safety efforts. Meanwhile, the police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and conclude investigations before prosecution.
The rescued victim is reportedly in good condition and has reestablished contact with his family.
