Rivers State House of Assembly Disputes Claim on Resolution Letter Delivery
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected the claim by the state government that it has not received the letter outlining the Assembly’s resolution. The Speaker’s principal secretary informed Channels Television that the letter was dispatched via FedEx courier to the Government House on March 3, 2025. However, when the courier arrived at the gate of the Government House, the personnel were instructed by someone inside to return the letter, as they were not to accept it.
This incident followed a resolution by the Rivers State House of Assembly on March 3, 2025, giving Governor Siminalayi Fubara 48 hours to present the 2025 appropriations bill to the Assembly. However, the state government has countered, stating that as of March 4, 2025, neither the Governor’s office, Deputy Governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the state had received the letter containing the Assembly’s resolution.
A letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, further clarified: “As at the close of work on Tuesday, 4th March 2025, we are yet to receive the said letter. Neither the office of the Governor, nor the Deputy Governor’s office, nor the office of the Accountant-General of the State has received the said letter.”
The dispute between the Rivers State House of Assembly and the state government has raised concerns over communication between the two branches of government.
