Tinubu Appoints Shamsedeen Ogunjimi as Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025. Ogunjimi succeeds Oluwatoyin Madehin, who will retire on the same day.

According to a statement by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga, Ogunjimi was selected through a rigorous, merit-based process that included a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews. His appointment underscores Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and excellence in public service.

A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ogunjimi holds a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi and urged him to uphold integrity and professionalism in his new role.
