Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured his supporters that victory is inevitable despite the ongoing political turmoil in the state. Speaking on Monday at the commissioning of the Government House Staff Quarters on Forces Avenue, opposite Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor emphasized resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

A Message of Faith and Strength

Opening his address with a passage from Philippians 3:18-19, Fubara underscored the importance of standing firm against opposition. Quoting the scripture, he warned against deception and emphasized the struggle as a battle for truth and justice rather than just political survival.

“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things,” he read, reinforcing his stance against political betrayals.

Despite the challenges, the governor declared, “Victory is sure,” affirming his commitment to leading the state towards self-determination and ending what he described as an era of political deception.

Commitment to Governance and Defying Opposition

Addressing former council chairmen in attendance, Fubara assured them that there was no cause for alarm, reiterating his administration’s commitment to peace and purposeful governance. While acknowledging the political tension, he made it clear that when the time comes, the necessary decisions will be taken in the best interest of Rivers State.

“I am not afraid of anything. The worst that can happen is for me to leave office,” he stated, asserting his unwavering stance against external pressures.

Speaking directly to the youth, Fubara urged patience, promising that at the right time, they would receive proper direction.

Response to Supreme Court Ruling and Political Developments

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision, which nullified the local government elections and ordered the Martin Amaewhule-led faction of the state assembly to resume sitting, Fubara expressed optimism about the future. He maintained that the struggles of the present would pave the way for a more promising future for Rivers State.

Reaffirming his resolve, the governor pledged to complete his tenure with integrity, ensuring that his decisions remain justifiable and beneficial to the people.

Tackling Political Propaganda with Action

Fubara dismissed political propaganda, emphasizing that his administration’s achievements speak louder than words. He pointed to ongoing state projects as evidence of purposeful governance, citing the newly inaugurated Government House Staff Quarters as a key initiative to improve efficiency among public servants.

As political battles continue in Rivers State, the governor’s address signals his determination to uphold his mandate while navigating the storm of opposition.
