Following a tense meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called for Zelenskyy to issue an apology.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Speaking on CNN, Rubio criticized Zelenskyy’s handling of the meeting, stating, “The Ukrainian president should apologize for wasting our time for a meeting that was going to end the way it did.” He also questioned whether Zelenskyy was genuinely seeking peace, adding, “You start to perceive that maybe Zelenskyy doesn’t want a peace deal. He says he does, but maybe he doesn’t, and that active, open undermining of efforts to bring about peace is deeply frustrating for everyone involved.”
Zelenskyy, however, has not apologized. In an interview with Fox News, he defended his stance, saying, “I’m not sure that we did something bad,” but acknowledged that he wished the altercation had not taken place in front of reporters.
The fallout from the meeting has sparked concerns among U.S. allies, with some European leaders questioning America’s role in supporting Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia.
