Following FUETO’s approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu two weeks ago, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) requested a site for the university’s immediate launch. Governor Sim Fubara, after a thorough assessment, selected the Kira Campus, originally built during the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi administration as part of a N4 billion zonal secondary school project.
Fubara: Kira Campus Ideal for FUETO’s Immediate Take-Off
Governor Fubara, accompanied by Rivers State University (RSU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Okogbule Nlerum, Tai Council Chairman Matthew Dike, and former RSU Vice Chancellor Prof. Barineme Beke Fakae, inspected the facility and deemed it suitable for FUETO’s operations.
“I strongly believe that it is suitable for the take-off of this university,” Fubara said, emphasizing that the property, though owned by RSU, has been officially transferred to the Federal Government.
FUETO to Boost Education and Environmental Research in Ogoni
Governor Fubara outlined FUETO’s key benefits:
• Economic and infrastructural development in Ogoni.
• Expanded educational opportunities for students in the Niger Delta.
• A hub for environmental research and innovation, addressing Ogoni’s ecological challenges.
He assured President Tinubu and ONSA that all legal processes had been completed, with a formal letter of release to be sent immediately.

With the site secured, FUETO is set to begin operations, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to environmental education and research. Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving the university and commended RSU for maintaining the campus.
