According to Naija247news, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found in possession of a substance suspected to be cocaine, concealed in her luggage. The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was attempting to board a flight to Asia when she was intercepted.

Naija247news gathered that the illicit drugs, weighing approximately 2.5 kilograms, were carefully hidden in false compartments of the suspect’s suitcase. “Our officers acted on intelligence and conducted a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the concealed drugs,” Babafemi said.

Naija247news understands that the suspect is currently in NDLEA custody and is undergoing interrogation to determine the source of the drugs and her intended destination. “We are working to unravel the network behind this operation. This arrest is a significant breakthrough in our fight against drug trafficking,” a senior NDLEA official told Naija247news.

According to Naija247news, the arrest has highlighted the growing concern over the use of Nigerian airports as transit points for international drug trafficking. The NDLEA has intensified its surveillance and screening processes at major airports to curb the trend.

Naija247news reports that the Thai national’s arrest is the latest in a series of high-profile drug busts at Nigerian airports. In recent months, the NDLEA has intercepted several attempts to smuggle illicit drugs, leading to the arrest of both local and foreign nationals.

As the investigation continues, Naija247news gathered that the NDLEA is collaborating with international agencies, including Interpol, to track down other members of the drug syndicate. “This is a global problem that requires a coordinated response. We are committed to working with our international partners to dismantle these networks,” the NDLEA spokesperson stated.

The arrest of the Thai national serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against illicit drugs and the importance of vigilance in securing Nigeria’s borders.
