Pope Francis will miss the Angelus prayer on Sunday for the second straight week as he continues to receive treatment in hospital for pneumonia, the Vatican confirmed.
The Vatican press office announced that while the text of the Angelus will be published, it will not be read out, just as it was the previous weekend.
The 88-year-old pontiff was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli hospital on February 14 with bronchitis, which later developed into pneumonia in both of his lungs, raising significant concerns. However, during a press conference on Friday, the pope’s doctors reassured the public that while there was no immediate danger to his life, he remains “not out of danger.”
In a brief update on Saturday morning, the Vatican stated: “Pope Francis rested well.”
