Air Peace Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Allen Onyema, has praised the Ekiti State Agro Allied International Cargo Airport as a critical asset for Nigeria’s economic and social development. Onyema, who landed at the airport on Saturday morning in a Boeing 737, commended the facility’s world-class infrastructure, noting its operational efficiency and potential to bolster the state’s and Nigeria’s aviation sector.

He highlighted the airport’s readiness to accommodate both international and domestic flights, stressing that its infrastructure positions Ekiti as a key player in the aviation landscape.
“This is the first time a Boeing 737 has landed here, and as an aviator, I can confidently say this is one of the best airports in the world,” said Onyema. “The airport’s runway is top-notch, and it is capable of handling larger aircraft, including the Boeing 777. I am certain that, in no time, this airport will be a hub for major aviation activities, and we could see pilgrims flying directly from Ekiti.”
The Air Peace CEO’s remarks echoed the sentiments of other aviation professionals, including Technical Adviser to the Governor on Airport Projects, AVM Sunday Makinde (rtd), who emphasized the airport’s capacity to manage large aircraft, reinforcing its potential as a major player in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Onyema also acknowledged the airport’s readiness to support the state’s economic growth, stating, “This is a transformative infrastructure for Ekiti, and it reflects the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in improving connectivity and driving economic progress.”
