“Governor Must Speak Up About the Lagos Assembly Chaos to the Right Quarters” – APC Leader”

“APC Chieftain Urges Sanwo-Olu to Address Lagos Assembly Leadership Crisis”

Babatunde Bank-Anthony, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to speak out on the ongoing leadership crisis in the state’s House of Assembly. Appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, Bank-Anthony emphasized the governor’s responsibility to address the issue, as the Assembly plays a crucial role in the governance of Lagos State.

“I expect the governor to say something. He is the number one man in Lagos State. He cannot ignore what happened yesterday because that is the parliament that makes the law for the state,” Bank-Anthony stated, urging Sanwo-Olu to respond appropriately.

The call comes after tensions in the Assembly escalated, with security personnel barring lawmakers from entering the complex on Monday. The situation later calmed, with Speaker Mojisola Meranda presiding over the session. While there have been calls for President Bola Tinubu to intervene, Bank-Anthony advised caution, urging the president to focus on national matters rather than taking sides in the state’s internal political strife.

The crisis began with the removal of Mudashiru Obasa, who had served as speaker since 2015, amid allegations of fraud. Obasa is challenging his removal in court, a move that Bank-Anthony criticized, suggesting he should resign after two decades in the Assembly to allow fresh leadership.
