EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede issued a stern warning to corrupt politicians misusing local government funds, stating they would not escape justice. Speaking at the Gombe State Local Government Summit on Wednesday, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of local government chairmen being accountable and transparent in managing resources, especially after the Supreme Court granted financial autonomy to local councils.

The EFCC chair also stressed that while local governments now have more control over finances, they still lack constitutional immunity, and their actions will be closely monitored by both anti-corruption agencies and state governments.
Olukoyede further highlighted the need for strong accountability structures at the local level, stressing that checks and balances, as well as compliance with public finance regulations, are essential for progress. He called on community leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society groups to actively monitor and ensure the proper use of local government resources.
