At least six people have been killed in Osun State following violent clashes triggered by a controversial Court of Appeal ruling allegedly reinstating All Progressives Congress (APC)-elected local government chairmen and councillors.

Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and some security agency heads of conspiring to enforce the ruling, warning that they should be held responsible for any unrest.
In response to the escalating violence, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical squads to Osun State to restore law and order. The IGP also issued a stern warning against lawlessness, vowing to bring all perpetrators to justice.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to safeguarding peace, stating that acts of violence would not be tolerated. Osun residents have been urged to remain calm as security agencies work to stabilize the situation.
