Speaking during the signing ceremony at the 25th Kano State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Governor Yusuf described the law as a game-changer in the fight against insecurity.
“This is a crucial step in ensuring that our people are safe,” he declared. “Security is not just the job of the government; it requires the collective effort of everyone. With this law, we are giving communities the power to take charge of their own safety.”
The governor noted that the initiative would help tackle crimes such as armed robbery, drug abuse, and other security threats plaguing different parts of the state. He urged Kano residents to support the initiative by working closely with security agencies and reporting suspicious activities.
“A safer Kano is not just a dream—it is possible when we all take responsibility,” he said.
Beyond the Neighborhood Watch Law, Governor Yusuf also assented to two other critical legislations—the Kano State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (Amendment) Law, 2025, and the Kano State Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Law, 2025.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Kano a safer and more prosperous state, vowing that security and public welfare would remain top priorities.
