In a dramatic twist to the ongoing leadership tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party has dismissed allegations of forgery in the case affirming Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s replacement, S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye, as the party’s national secretary. The PDP has instead pointed fingers at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing its agents of orchestrating a smear campaign to destabilize the opposition.

However, a faction within the party alleged that the court documents were forged, sparking a fresh wave of internal discord.
According to Naija247news, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, addressed the media on Thursday, describing the forgery claims as “baseless and politically motivated.” He stated, “These allegations are the handiwork of APC agents who are desperate to distract us from our mission to rescue Nigeria from the current administration’s failures. We have no doubt that the APC is behind this mischief.”
Naija247news understands that the PDP has submitted all relevant documents to the court, including the party’s constitution and minutes of meetings, to prove the legitimacy of Udeh-Okoye’s appointment. A source within the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the leadership is confident the court will reaffirm its decision, dismissing the forgery claims as frivolous.
Meanwhile, Udeh-Okoye has called for unity within the party, urging members to focus on the upcoming governorship elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states. “This is not the time for distractions. We must remain united to ensure victory for our candidates and, ultimately, for the Nigerian people,” he said during a press briefing in Abuja.
Naija247news reports that the APC has yet to respond to the PDP’s allegations. However, political analysts suggest that the ruling party may be exploiting the opposition’s internal challenges to weaken its position ahead of the 2023 general elections.
As the drama unfolds, the PDP remains resolute in its stance, vowing to resist any attempts to undermine its unity. The party has also called on its members to remain vigilant and disregard what it describes as “APC-sponsored propaganda.”
