The video, shared widely on social media, showed a content creator who purchased one litre of Dangote petrol at MRS filling station in Alapere, Lagos, at N925, and the same amount of fuel from NNPCL in Ojodu Berger at N945. The creator claimed that when poured into different generators, the generator running on NNPCL fuel stopped after 17 minutes, while the one running on Dangote petrol lasted 33 minutes.
NNPCL’s Response
NNPCL refuted the claims, stating that the research conducted in the video was unverified, amateur, and lacked professional oversight and accuracy. The statement emphasized that a significant portion of the fuel sold at the NNPCL station was sourced from the Dangote Refinery, a strategic partner in ensuring local fuel production and energy security for Nigeria.
“This assertion is baseless and entirely unfounded, originating from unverified and amateur research,” said the statement. “NNPCL fuel is carefully formulated to ensure optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability for consumers.”
NNPCL further clarified that the Dangote Refinery follows strict industry standards, guaranteeing high-quality petroleum products.
Legal Action Against Misinformation
NNPCL also issued a stern warning to those spreading such misinformation. The company stated that it would take legal action against individuals or groups intentionally disseminating false information to harm its reputation.
“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations,” the statement said, urging the public to “disregard fabricated content” and rely on verified sources for accurate information.
NNPCL reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and quality for all Nigerians while maintaining global industry standards.
