The church noted that after reviewing the concerns raised about potentially defamatory statements made by the TikToker, it was necessary to allow the law to take its course. It also stressed that RCCG does not intend to interfere with the ongoing police investigation, especially as an official complaint had been lodged by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum on behalf of senior church leaders, including Pastor Adeboye.
Adeboye Distances Himself from Arrest
Speaking during a church program on Friday, February 7, Pastor Adeboye distanced himself from SeaKing’s arrest, stating that certain individuals, angered by the influencer’s remarks, took matters into their own hands. He urged the Nigerian police to release SeaKing, emphasizing that “he is fulfilling prophecy.”
Adeboye also called for respectful discourse, discouraging defamatory or disrespectful statements about spiritual leaders. RCCG reiterated its commitment to promoting a culture of honor and ensuring that all discussions remain constructive.
SeaKing was initially arrested over allegations of cyberbullying and was rearrested last Thursday at a Lagos State court premises before being taken to Abuja. While Adeboye has maintained that he had no involvement in the arrest, RCCG has affirmed that due process must be followed.
