President of the association, Mrs. Olubunmi Olumekun, stated that the new policy had severely disrupted export operations, causing delays and compliance challenges within just five days of implementation. She called on the Federal Government to urgently address the bottlenecks, warning that prolonged shipment delays would impact government revenue and trade efficiency.

Olumekun emphasized the need to streamline export procedures and uphold the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Trade Monitoring System (TRMS) portal, which was designed to consolidate oversight of regulatory agencies. She urged the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) to halt practices that revert exporters to outdated protocols, arguing that the current system was increasing operational costs and slowing trade flow.

Exporters have raised concerns that the turnaround time for shipments has been drastically extended, threatening Nigeria’s competitiveness in foreign trade.
