According to Naija247news, Dr. Adamu emphasized that the union remains committed to dialogue and constructive engagement with the university management to address any lingering issues. “We are not on strike, and we have no intention of disrupting academic activities at KASU,” he stated.

Naija247news understands that the clarification was necessary following widespread rumors of an impending strike, which had caused anxiety among students and parents. The rumors were fueled by recent nationwide strikes by ASUU, which have disrupted academic calendars in federal universities across Nigeria.

Dr. Adamu further explained that the ASUU-KASU chapter is focused on resolving issues such as improved welfare for lecturers, better funding for the university, and enhanced infrastructure. Naija247news reports that the union has been in talks with the KASU management, and significant progress has been made in addressing some of these concerns.

“We believe in dialogue and negotiation,” Dr. Adamu said. “Our primary goal is to ensure that KASU remains a center of excellence, and we are working tirelessly to achieve this without resorting to industrial action.”

Naija247news also learned that students of KASU have expressed relief over the union’s stance. “This is a huge relief for us,” said Fatima Ibrahim, a 300-level student. “We have already lost so much time due to previous strikes, and we cannot afford another disruption.”

The Kaduna State Government, which oversees the university, has also welcomed the development. According to Naija247news, a government spokesperson commended ASUU-KASU for prioritizing dialogue and assured stakeholders of continued support to ensure the institution’s growth and stability.

As the academic community breathes a sigh of relief, Naija247news will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on any further developments. For now, the assurance from ASUU-KASU offers hope for uninterrupted academic activities at Kaduna State University.
