Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has reaffirmed his stance on governance, declaring that he is not one to pretend like some of his political colleagues.

The user remarked that no politician would want El-Rufai in their cabinet unless they truly intended to develop Nigeria, as he does not engage in political pretense.
In response, El-Rufai agreed, stating, “Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not some of us.”
El-Rufai Blasts APC Leadership
Beyond his philosophy, El-Rufai has openly criticized his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for abandoning its founding principles and fostering poor leadership.
“I no longer recognize the APC. No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing. You don’t even know if it is a one-man show; it’s a zero-man show.”
He attributed the country’s leadership crisis to unqualified delegates selecting incompetent leaders.
“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”
Clash with Tinubu’s Aide
El-Rufai’s remarks drew a response from Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, who questioned whether he would have made such statements if he were in Tinubu’s cabinet.
In response, El-Rufai dismissed the insinuation, insisting that he never sought a position in Tinubu’s government.
“I was a cabinet minister 22 years ago and was clear to Asiwaju that I was not interested in any position in his future government. The pathetic manner all of you latter-day converts to the Tinubu government make an issue of something I never wanted in the first place is a reflection of your moral flexibility.”
El-Rufai maintained that he would have spoken out even if he were part of the administration, stating that his record in public service since 1998 proves his consistency.
