President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to John Mahama on his swearing-in as Ghana’s President, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to supporting its West African neighbor.
Mahama, who previously led Ghana from 2012 to 2017, returned to office following a decisive victory over Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His inauguration took place on Tuesday at Independence Square in Accra, with President Tinubu attending as a special guest.
Highlighting their enduring friendship, Tinubu assured Mahama of Nigeria’s unwavering support. “President Mahama and I share a deep bond. You can count on Nigeria’s goodwill and support whenever needed,” Tinubu stated.
Tinubu hailed Mahama’s electoral victory, describing it as a testament to Ghana’s democratic maturity. He urged global critics to acknowledge Africa’s progress in governance and development. “Ghana’s achievement reaffirms Africa’s capability in democratic and productive governance. We have nothing to prove except to ourselves,” Tinubu declared.
Mahama’s return to power is seen as a positive sign for regional stability and collaboration among African nations.
