A notice dated January 29, filed under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, seeks to withdraw the charge at the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti. The police prosecutor, Samson Osobu, stated that the decision follows the intervention of respected Nigerians, including legal luminary Afe Babalola, who opted to discontinue the case.

While the Federal High Court case is set to be struck out, another charge against Farotimi remains pending at the Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, with a hearing scheduled for February 13, 2025. There are expectations that this charge will also be dropped before the next court date.
