Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has confirmed that the monthly allowance for corps members will increase to ₦77,000 starting February 2025.

“The Federal Government has already approved the increment of your allowance. It is no longer news; we have the approval in our hands. What we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget,” he stated.
He explained that January payments will still follow the old rate of ₦33,000, but as soon as the budget is passed, corps members will start receiving ₦77,000 in their monthly stipends.

While addressing the corps members, General Ahmed urged them to shun misconduct, embrace discipline, and uphold integrity, emphasizing that diligence and perseverance are key to a prosperous future.
He also advised them to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities and integrate seamlessly into their new environments after leaving the orientation camps.
“I encourage you to initiate personal or group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that will positively impact your host communities and improve their living standards,” he added.
With this new allowance structure, corps members across Nigeria are set to experience a significant financial boost, reinforcing the NYSC’s commitment to youth empowerment and national development.
