In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nwoko cited the party’s internal crisis as the primary reason for his departure.

“I write to formally resign my membership from the PDP, a party I have proudly served as a foundation member since 1999,” he stated.

Nwoko, a veteran in Nigerian politics, pointed to the growing fragmentation within the party, particularly an incident on January 29, when top PDP functionaries engaged in a public physical altercation. He described the event as a clear indication of the party’s deep-seated divisions, making it difficult to serve the people effectively.

“These divisions have made it increasingly difficult to unite and pursue the collective interests of our people,” he wrote, adding that the disunity within the PDP had hindered his ability to deliver on campaign promises.

Despite his departure, Nwoko acknowledged the opportunities the PDP had provided him, particularly in contesting the 2022/2023 senatorial election. However, he emphasized that his commitment remained with his constituents.

“During my campaign, I made solemn and actionable promises to my constituents—commitments I take seriously as a servant of the people,” he affirmed.

With the PDP’s internal conflicts obstructing his agenda, Nwoko stated that leaving the party was necessary to fulfill his obligations. He expressed confidence that his switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would provide a stronger platform for advancing the interests of Delta North.

“My decision to resign is not taken lightly,” he assured, emphasizing his dedication to unity and progress.

While his defection reshapes the political landscape in Delta State, Nwoko reiterated his commitment to the welfare of his constituents. “While I bid farewell to my membership in the PDP, I assure all party members and my constituents of my unwavering dedication to statesmanship, unity, and the advancement of Delta North,” he concluded.
