The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of one soldier and multiple injuries after a private vehicle recklessly crashed into troops during their Bi-Annual Route March near Myhoung Barracks in Yaba, Lagos State, on Friday.

Military, Security Agencies Launch Investigation
Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni revealed that the 81 Division Military Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, has launched a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased soldier and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He also urged calm as investigations continue.
Army Reaffirms Commitment Despite Tragic Loss
Despite the unfortunate event, the Nigerian Army has reiterated its commitment to training and operational readiness. The Division assured the public that the incident would not deter its mission to safeguard lives and properties within its operational jurisdiction in line with its constitutional mandate.
The Bi-Annual Route March, a standard training exercise aimed at improving troop endurance and combat readiness, was being conducted across multiple Army formations in Lagos State at the time of the tragedy.
