Daniel Bwala Criticizes El-Rufai’s Remarks on APC’s Leadership
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Abuja, Jan. 30, 2025 (Naija247news) – Daniel Bwala, a media aide to President Bola Tinubu, has challenged former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his recent criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party lacks internal democracy and active structures.
El-Rufai, speaking at a national conference in Abuja, voiced his disillusionment with the APC, saying he no longer recognized the party and lamenting its drift toward a one-man show. He also criticized the party’s leadership, accusing them of enabling poor governance by appointing illiterate or semi-illiterate leaders.
In a response posted on X (formerly Twitter), Bwala questioned El-Rufai’s credibility, suggesting that he would not have expressed such criticism had he still been in the Tinubu administration. Bwala remarked, “If you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position? History is replete with examples. It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat. Haba Mallam.”
El-Rufai, who was a prominent backer of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential campaign, had initially advocated for a southern candidate to secure the presidency in line with the unwritten principle of rotational power-sharing. However, his fallout with the APC began after his ministerial nomination by Tinubu was rejected by the Senate over security concerns in August 2023. Since then, El-Rufai has distanced himself from the APC leadership and has been spotted with leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), further fueling speculation about his political future.
His strained relationship with his successor in Kaduna, Sani Uba, and the ongoing probe of his administration’s activities have also contributed to his public rift with the APC. Despite these tensions, El-Rufai has denied any plans to defect to another party.
