Abuja, Jan. 30, 2025 (Naija247news) – Professor Usman Yusuf, the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Charges and Legal Proceedings
According to the EFCC, Professor Yusuf is set to be arraigned on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
This arrest follows a petition filed during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging misconduct and fraudulent practices against Yusuf. In 2019, Yusuf was relieved of his position after an investigation by the Federal Ministry of Health, which found that he had mismanaged N919 million. The dismissal was based on recommendations from a fact-finding panel established by the Ministry of Health.
